ITTP students have included practitioners from both northern and southern Sri Lanka, Palestinian mental health professionals from the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, the Academic Dean of the Anglican Theological Seminary in Zimbabwe and Tibetan refugees from India. All former students are now treating trauma survivors, working in their home countries, training other practitioners, or pursuing further education in the field.

All of our previous students have returned to their countries and are using their training in their work. For example, Janaka Jayawickrama, an ITTP student from 2000, returned to Sri Lanka and focused on working with grass-roots organizations and the Sri Lanka Green Movement Party on economic development issues. Recently Janaka has been actively involved in the rebuilding of the coastal communities affected by the Dec. 24 th, 2004 tsunami. Moreover, several have expanded their influence beyond their home communities. Again, Janaka is a lead research associate at the Disaster and Development Centre at Northumbria University, and is currently working on relief efforts with the internally displaced peoples in the Darfur region of Sudan.
